Lucy Reed

Lucy Reed was General Counsel of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO) from 1995 to 1998, in which capacity she frequently led KEDO teams negotiating with the DPRK. While with the Legal Adviser’s Office of the US State Department from 1985 to 1993, she served as the US Agent to the Iran-US Claims Tribunal in the Hague. Since 2000, Lucy has been a partner in the international law firm Freshfields, based in New York, Hong Kong and now in Singapore, and leading the firm’s international arbitration and public international law groups. Among other roles, she has served as an arbitrator on the Eritrea-Ethiopia Claims Commission, co-director of the Claims Resolution Tribunal for Dormant Swiss Bank Accounts, President of the American Society of International Law, and Secretary of the Korea Society (New York), and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
