PPJ Visits Industrial Sites
DPRK state media reported on February 24 (Saturday) that Premier and State Affairs Commission Vice Chairman Pak Pong Ju [Pak Pong-chu] conducted on-site visits to the Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex and East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant.
While touring the iron and steel complex, Pak “encouraged workers there in a vigorous drive to put the production on a normal footing.” During the consultative meeting Pak and that participants discussed “the issue of further perfecting the Chuch’e iron and steel-making technology and drastically increasing the iron production and underscore the need for relevant units to satisfactorily supply raw and other materials for the normal production.”
The East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant is currently undergoing a technical and renovation. During the DPRK Cabinet’s plenary meeting in January 2018 it was pointed out that that “the Ministry of Electric Power Industry and relevant agencies must reduce coal consumption per kilowatt hour and maximize yield per generator by completing boiler and turbine generator maintenance planned for this year at thermal power stations qualitatively, overhauling and improving inadequate production processes with the replacement of air preheater chambers and the renovation of the coal pulverizing system at the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, and actively introducing new technologies.”
During his visit to the East Pyongyang Thermal Power Plant, Pak Pong Ju called “for stepping up the scientific researches into increasing the electricity production and for keeping production going through meticulous equipment and technical management.”
