Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju Visit Sinu’iju Cosmetics Factory
KJU’s last observed appearance was his visit to Sindo County
Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) and his wife Ri Sol Ju (Ri So’l-chu) visited Sinu’iju Cosmetics Factory during the afternoon of June 29 (Friday). Also in attendance was Kim Chang Son (Kim Ch’ang-son), the head of the Personal Secretariat along with senior Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Department Directors and Deputy Department Directors An Jong Su (An Cho’ng-su), Hwang Pyong So (Hwang Pyo’ng-so’), Han Kwang Sang (Han Kwang-sang), Kim Song Nam (Kim So’ng-nam), O Il Jong (O Il-cho’ng), Hwang Yong Chol (Hwang Yo’ng-ch’o’l) and deputy chief of the Personal Secretariat Jo Yong Won (Cho Yo’ng-wo’n).
Jong Un, Madame Ri and the senior party officials first stopped at rooms exhibiting the factory’s revolutionary and institutional histories. As he looked “with deep emotion” at photographs of late DPRK President and founder Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) and late DPRK leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il), he said that “the factory traveled the path of its praiseworthy development under the wise leadership and particular care of Kim Il Sung who brought about the beginning of the cosmetics industry of the country” and “Kim Jong Il who chose the site of the factory at the foot of a cozy mountain in the picturesque southern Sinu’iju area with clean water and laid a firm foundation for future development.”
Kim Jong Un and Ri Sol Ju toured soap, basic cosmetics and cosmetics shops, a product showroom, a Pomhyanggi brand cosmetics exhibition and other areas of the factory “for a long time.” They learned in “detail about the cosmetics production and modernization of the factory.” Kim Jong Un “praised the factory for updating the production processes of cosmetics for washing and hair and other various cosmetics which have been put on an automated, germ-free and dust-free basis in a short span of time.” He said that it “is amazing that the factory has created the capacity of the development and mass-production of scores of kinds of new goods including good quality cosmetics for hair and remedy.”
Jong Un said “with great satisfaction that it has really done a lot of work without being known to others during the period, extraordinary is the long-standing unit associated with the leadership exploits” and that he “admired the assiduous spirit and diligent working manner of the officials and workers of the factory.” He noted that “the factory should rest content with what it has already achieved, but continue to make a leap forward to attain a higher goal and that it should never praise itself as Pomhyanggi-tradmarked cosmetics are very popular among the people and in great demand.” He “underlined the need for the factory to push forward with the research for improving the quality of the products and increasing varieties in conformity with the characteristics of the liking, age and constitution of the users whilst analyzing U’nhasu-trademarked cosmetics of the country in contradistinction to world-famous cosmetics.”
Kim Jong Un noted that “the cosmetics container also plays an important role in enhancing the value of the cosmetics” and he issued “instructions to produce containers of various shapes, sizes and colors so that their specific characters are seen well and they suited to the conveniences of the users and to pack them in diversified forms so as to present cosmetics as gifts or souvenirs.” He also issued “detailed tasks and ways for producing cosmetics including the issue of developing and producing lots of cosmetics of various kinds.”
As Ri Sol Ju and Kim Jong Un looked around the sample room and a product exhibition, he said “with pleasure that they have been arranged in a creative way” and he “instructed officials to build a fashionable shop for Pomhyanggi-trademarked cosmetics in Pyongyang.”
Prior to taking commemorative photos with the factory’s managers and employees he expressed his “expectation and belief that the officials and employees of the factory would take the lead in developing the cosmetics industry and make a true contribution to improving the people’s standard of living, bearing in mind high consciousness that they serve the people.”
