Ri Su Yong Meets with Raúl Castro

Workers’ Party of Korea (WPK) Vice Chairman and Director of the WPK International Affairs Department Ri Su Yong (Ri Su-yo’ng) met with Communist Party of Cuba 1st Secretary Raúl Castro Ruz in Havana during the afternoon of July 5 (Thursday).  According to KCNA, Ri Su Yong “courteously conveyed the warm greetings and a verbal personal letter sent by Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) to Raúl who “expressed deep thanks for this and asked Ri Su Yong to convey his most wholehearted greetings to” Jong Un.  The interaction “took place in a friendly atmosphere.”

According to Granma, Ri Su Yong’s meeting with Raúl Castro Ruz evidenced “the traditional bonds of friendship and the excellent relations between our peoples, Parties [and Government].”  According to Prensa Latina, the interaction expressed “the bonds of friendship and excellent relations” of the 58 year ties between the DPRK and Cuba.

Ri Su Yong will be in Cuba until July 9 (Monday) and with members of his travel party will conduct other interactions with senior Cuban Government officials.
