Avram Agov

Avram Agov is a faculty member at the Asian Studies Department of Langara College, Vancouver. He received his BA in philosophy and history at Sofia University. He was a visiting scholar at Columbia University on a Fulbright Fellowship and received his MA in Regional Studies-East Asia at Harvard University. He studied at the Korean Language Institute of Yonsei University and worked at Samsung Electronics (a visual media business) in Korea for six years. He completed his PhD program in Korean history at the University of British Columbia. He had specialization at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Korea Institute of Harvard University. Some of his articles include “North Korea’s Alliances and the Unfinished Korean War,” published in the Journal of Korean Studies (18 no. 2, 2013) and “The East Asian Frontier of the Socialist World: North Korea in the 1950s,” Journal of American-East Asian Relations (24, 2017). He is currently working on a manuscript, entitled “North Korea in the Socialist World Order, 1945-1962.”
