Gareth Porter

Gareth Porter is an independent investigative journalist, historian and author on U.S. national security policy. He has covered U.S. wars and policies in the Middle East from Iraq to the conflict with Iran to Syrian for Inter Press Service rom 2004 through 2014 and was the 2012 winner of the Gellhorn Prize for Journalism. In 1979 he wrote the first detailed case for U.S. negotiations with North Korea in Foreign Policy magazine. Porter is the author of five books, including Perils of Dominance: Imbalance of Power and the Road to War in Vietnam (University of California Press, 2005) and Manufactured Crisis: The Untold Story of the Iranian Nuclear Scare (Just World Books, 2014).
