George Grech is a former Maltese diplomat and sanctions specialist. He served as Malta’s UN Sanctions Coordinator during its 2023–2024 term on the United Nations Security Council and previously worked (2012-2016) as Foreign Relations (RELEX) Counsellor at Malta’s Permanent Representation to the European Union. He also served on Malta’s MONEYVAL delegation and as an investigator and member of the country’s Sanctions Monitoring Board. His work has covered UN and EU sanctions negotiations, sanctions investigations, asset freezes, proliferation financing and national implementation. In 2025, he founded GREX Strategies, where he advises public authorities and financial institutions on sanctions, export controls and targeted financial sanctions. He holds degrees from the University of St Andrews and the University of Toronto.
