Jack Liu

Jack Liu spent much of his career as a contractor for DoD and the Intelligence Community. The areas included missile/aircraft/submarine guidance and navigation, national intelligence, data exploitation, intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance systems, and missile defense. Many recent projects involved the Global War on Terrorism using SIGINT (signal intelligence), IMINT (imagery intelligence), and MASINT (measurement and signature intelligence) techniques. Notable work in the DoD area included the MX missile guidance system and the Navy Theater Ballistic Missile Defense system. For 38 North he produces assessments based on commercially available satellite imagery and other unclassified open-source information. Specific examples are monitoring North Korean preparations for nuclear testing and satellite launches. He holds Bachelor, Masters, Engineer, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from MIT.
