Hyuk Kim is a consultant at 38 North of the Stimson Center. Before this role, he was a Research Fellow at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Mr. Kim also served as a Nonproliferation and Nuclear Security Fellow at Pacific Forum and as a guest researcher at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).
He holds an M.A. in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, a University Diploma in International Nuclear Law from Montpellier University 1, and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Seoul National University.
His research areas include nonproliferation and disarmament, export controls and sanctions, emerging technologies and technology control policy, open-source information analysis and machine learning, the North Korean nuclear program, and inter-Korean relations. Mr. Kim is a certified AI developer, holding a TensorFlow Developer Certificate.
